About SORINTEX

The largest Cluster in the Republic of Moldova

Following the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, companies in the light industry have begun to understand the need to adapt to the new economic environment and trends due to the fact that only strong and united industries would find the necessary resources to invest in marketing, promotion, research&development, creation and design. Individual firms, especially small and medium-sized businesses which make up the most of this industry, lack the power to impose themselves on a mature market. One optimal solution is considering the initiation of a cluster organizational form, which favors legislative advocacy, business information, communication and cooperation.

After some working meetings, initiated and financed within the TAIEX project – Technical Assistance and Information Exchange tool of the European Commission in Moldova, during which the need for this type of structure, its organization, purpose and objectives were arduously discussed. In october 2018 the Association of Light Industry Enterprises “Sorintex” was founded – a professional association established by the unconditional agreement of 15 founding companies, manufacturers with traditions in the field of garments, clothing, and knitwear in the northern region of Moldova, who found this way to formalize the collaborative relationships already present.

As a first step, the “Sorintex” Association initiated and launched the cluster with the same name by signing a Partnership Agreement with various research, higher education, and administrative institutions in the noble cause of collaboration and development of joint projects in the future.

In this context, the Association of Light Industry Enterprises “Sorintex” is the Management Entity of the Regional Cluster in the field of Garments and Textiles. “Sorintex” is an entity legally established and registered with the Public Services Agency of the Republic of Moldova in the form of a Union of Legal Entities.
